11-Year-Old Boy Shot Dead As Violent Crimes And Murders Increase In Guyana

A boy has died after being shot by one of two bandits who broke into his neighbor’s home yesterday when he and his mother were visiting.

Anthony Cort, 11, of Lot 612 Packet Corner, ‘C’ Field, Sophia, was killed.

The boy was with his mother two houses from where he lives when two males wearing face masks and armed with handguns broke into the property of a 44-year-old businesswoman, according to police headquarters.

The suspects led the victims to the house’s upper flat through a northern door. Cort left a bedroom at this stage and was shot in the upper shoulder by one of the bandits.

The boy was pronounced dead by EMT Ambulance Services, according to police. The body was taken to Lyken Funeral Parlour, where it would be subjected to a post-mortem examination.
