Frontline Workers Protest Government For ‘No Pay’ And Lack of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
On Wednesday, registered nurses from the Linden Hospital Complex and Georgetown Public Hospital protest the lack of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to call attention to the shortage. The nurses are also concerned about the non-issuance of risk allowance and the regular delay in salaries.
Health care workers are on the front line against COVID-19, and the nurses are hoping that the relevant authorities investigate the concerns displayed on the placards immediately.
Guyana is no stranger to the pandemic, and the issues concerning Covid-19 are similar to healthcare globally. We have seen nurses in all parts of the world, protesting the need for better protection. In the United States, we have seen protests in various states, and the protests will likely continue to grow in Guyana.
This is a developing story.
