Afro-Guyanese Volda Lawrence Under Attack By The PPP Regime…Asked To Report To CID Headquarters
The Chairman of the People’s National Congress, Ms. Volda Lawrence, has been contacted by the Criminal Investigations Division (CID) of the Guyana Police Force to present herself by 4:15hrs on October 10, 2020.
Ms. Lawrence was previously charged with conspiracy to show a win for the APNU+AFC during the March 2nd general elections. She was released on bail of $100,000.
According to a statement from the opposition party, APNU+AF, Ms. Lawrence has complied with the courts even though the charges are baseless and trumped up.
“She has dutifully attended court as required and complied with all requirements. She has been placed on bail. The charges against her are baseless, spurious, and trumped-up,” claimed the APNU+AFC.
The statement also suggested that the charge stood as an attack by the PPP/C regime in the form of “psychological terrorism of Coalition leadership activists, and Afro-Guyanese supporters.”
“APNU+AFC demands an end to PPP psychological terrorism of Coalition leadership and activists-Afro-Guyanese under attack by PPP regime,” said a statement.
The rhetoric is a full warning to the PPP administration, Guyanese, CARICOM, and the international community that Afro-Guyanese citizens are under attack in Guyana by the PPP regime.

APNU+AFC demands end to PPP psychological terrorism of Coalition leadership and activists
-Afro-Guyanese under attack by PPP regime
Today there has been an unmistakable further intensification of the psychological terrorism on the leadership of the APNU+AFC Coalition by the PPP regime and their complicit agents in the Guyana Police Force.
The People’s National Congress Chairman Ms. Volda Lawrence has been contacted by the Criminal Investigations Division of the Guyana Police Force and told to present herself at 16:15hrs today, Saturday, at the CID Headquarters, Eve Leary.
Ms. Lawrence was previously charged by the Guyana Police Force and put before the court. She has dutifully attended court as required and complied with all requirements. She has been placed on bail. The charges against her are baseless, spurious and trumped up.
This sudden and unnecessary demand for Ms. Lawrence to present herself at the CID Headquarters, late on a Saturday afternoon, must be seen for what it is – psychological terrorism against the APNU+AFC leadership, activists and supporters.
It is evident that there is a plan to detain Ms. Lawrence as others have been detained previously.
This latest devious and abominable action by the PPP regime further crystallises that they are horrified and frightened by the APNU+AFC Coalition’s elections petitions which they know they will lose and will result in their removal from government which they temporarily occupy. They are attempting every desperate tactic to thwart the hearing of the election petition.
The PPP actions and that of their agents in the Guyana Police Force are also designed to incite the APNU+AFC supporters and the wider Guyanese public. Their actions are meant to cause public strife and discord and are part of a clear plan to attack, intimidate, persecute and oppress Afro-Guyanese who are perceived to be supportive of the APNU+AFC Coalition. The PPP is instigating and fuelling ethnic strife and confrontation in Guyana.
The APNU+AFC Coalition warns all Guyanese, CARICOM, the United Nations and the international community that Afro-Guyanese are under attack in Guyana from the PPP regime and that they have weaponized the Guyana Police Force against the APNU+AFC leadership, activists and supporters.
The APNU+AFC Coalition demands that the PPP immediately desist from these actions and should it fail to adhere to our demands it will suffer the consequences of retaliatory measures which the APNU+AFC Coalition will be left with no alternative but to pursue.
