Afro-Guyanese Volda Lawrence To Face New Charges Tomorrow

The Chair of the People’s National Congress Reform (PNC/R) Volda Lawrence, along with her party’s agent Carol Joseph, are expected to face additional charges after being asked to report to the CID Headquarters, Eve Leary today.

According to Attorney At Law Nigel Hughes, Lawrence was asked to report to the unit for further questioning.

Volda Lawrence is a former Minister of Government under the APNU/AFC and a PNC/R member. She is the first minister to be arrested in connection with investigations over election fraud under the current administration, PPP/C.

Last week Volda Lawrence was charged with conspiracy to defraud the March 2nd elections after presenting herself at CID Headquarters. Lawrence is accused of conspiring with Region Four Returning Officer Clairmont Mingo of the March 2nd elections declaration.
