26 Nationals From Haiti Who Entered Guyana Legally To Be Deported
According to reports, Magistrate Sherdel Isaacs ordered the 26 Nationals from Haiti who entered Guyana legally according to the CARICOM agreement to leave the country.
Attorney Darren Wade for the detained Nationals indicated that the Haitians were not charged with any crime. The deportation order is unlawful and violates the Haitians Nationals’ rights since the order did not mention the grounds for deportation.
Allegedly, Guyana is a stress-free connection channel for Haiti Nationals travelling to Suriname and Brazil.
A statement from APNU+AFC Member of Parliament Amanza Walton-Desir criticizes the government action for not upholding the CARICOM Single Market Economy (CSME) agreement in allowing members to travel and work for six months across its member states.
Attorney Wade promised that he would appeal the deportation order.
