Four Prisoners Dig Hole To Escape Police Custody
The four prisoners who escaped from the Lethem lock ups have been identified as Jack King Paul age 36 years of Kwatamang Village North Rupununi, Clarence Rodney age 20 years of Lethem Central Rupanuni, Yon Rogg Hernandez C/d John Roberts Venezuelan National age 26 years of Tabatinga Lethem and Xarlos Edwards Thomas, Venezuelan National, 18years of Tabatinga Lethem.
Police in reporting the incident Friday afternoon said that the escape is believed to have occurred today between 00:05hrs and 07:00hrs at the Lethem Police Station lockups.
“A metal rod measuring 1 foot was found on the eastern side of the lockup next to a dug hole in the ground measuring 3ft in width, length and depth and had an exit point.” Police said.
The surface of the hole has a 2-inch layer of concrete with red sand beneath.
“It was a prisoner of Tabatinga Lethem Central Rupanuni who is in custody for assault alerted ranks of the absence of the prisoners from the lockups “ according to a statement from the police.
