“My Godfather is Black …” Says Alleged Racist Minister Charles Ramson, His Government Spent First Year Destroying Black Businesses

Minister Charles Ramson and PPP War on Black People

The Afro-Guyanese community received somewhat of a scripted apology from Minister Charles Ramson who was heard on a local radio station stating that the “Afro-Guyanese community is lacking role models”.

Ramson quickly took to his social media to recant his statements and pointed out in a traditionally racist fashion that he has black friends.

“Of course there are many Afro-Guyanese role models and in this context, a role model is a law-abiding and productive member of society who carries himself or herself in a respectable way. For example, my Godfather Ashton Chase who was one of the persons who helped raised me. He is a role model and he is Afro-Guyanese and in fact, he is one of the most distinguished and respectable men I have ever known.” Ramson read from his script.

Many young Afro-Guyanese quickly mirrored his statements with the actions of his government as they swiftly targeted predominantly black businesses upon taking office.

More specifically, Morse Archer, the CEO of Cevons Waste Management which is a historically black business, Wilfred Brandford of Car Care Enterprise and career public servant and former commissioner of the Guyana Lands and Surveys Commission (GL&SC), Trevor Benn.
