Alleged Prison Escapee Shot Dead Along With Several Others As Killing Spree In Guyana Continues
Late Monday night, the Guyana Police Force confirmed reports that its officers were involved in a shootout with suspected bandits in Vryheid’s Lust, East Coast Demerara.
According to police, one of four prisoners who escaped from the Mazaruni Prison earlier this year was shot dead in the backlands of East Coast Demerara on Monday night. He has been identified as Imran Ramsaywack, a 25-year-old man who escaped from a maximum-security prison in February. His last known address was Adelphi Village, East Canje, Berbice. He was found guilty in 2015 of the murder of Samantha Benjamin of Buxton, East Coast Demerara.
Two people have died, and one woman is in critical condition, according to reports. Sirens could be heard, and an ambulance could be seen speeding through city streets. The police have confirmed that there was a shooting. More information, however, will be made available in a subsequent report.
