Attorney General Anil Nandlall Expects Election Petition To Be Dismissed

Today the Attorney General, Anil Nandlall, weighed in on the election petitions submitted by the APNU+AFC. The Attorney General says that the petition lacks merit and will be dismissed.

“I am confident that the petition will be dismissed,” remarked Anil Nandlall.

Nandlall noted that the issues cited in the petitions with the March 2, 2020 elections have already been dealt with before the courts.

“In terms of the other petition, it relates to the allegations that we are all familiar with and those are the allegations that were made during the recount, that there were multiple voting and ghost voting and voter impersonation and that some of the statutory documents were missing.”

The petitioner’s case management is set for October 22, 2020, before the Chief Judge, Roxanne George. The APNU+AFC is requesting that the March 2, 2020 elections be dismissed and called for a new set of elections.
