Delegation From Suriname Arrived In Guyana To Reinforce Dialogue

Suriname’s delegation from the Guyanese neighborhood country arrived on October 14, 2020, in Guyana to solidify the two-country partnership agreement.  

The delegation arriving through the Eugene F. Correia International Airport for a three-day visit includes Suriname Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Albert Ramdin, Minister of Public Works, Dr. Riad Nurmohamed, and Minister of Public Health, Mr. Ama Ramadhin. 

The delegation will facilitate talks surrounding the two-country participation in the continued Strategic Dialogue and Cooperation Platform (SDCP).  Before their arrival, the President, Dr. Irfaan Ali, met with the Minister of foreign affairs and other members of the administration to discuss the purpose of the Suriname visit. 

At this meeting, the discussion areas included the two leaders’ agreement on local content policy in the oil and gas sector, national security, and borders issues. The delegation had an opportunity to visit the Corentyne River that borders Guyana and Suriname. The Minister of Public Works, Bishop Juan Edghill, facilitated this trip.
