DPP Drops Attorney General Anil Nandlall Theft Charges

The Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) dropped charges against the current Attorney General, Anil Nandlall, over the alleged theft of law reports worth $2M.

The DPP, Shalimar Ali-Hack, informed the Magistrate, Fabayo Azore, who was presiding over the case at the Georgetown Magistrate Court, that the case was closed.

Under the APNU+AFC administration, Nandlall was charged with larceny for law books in his possession belonging to the Ministry of Legal affairs. The books were valued at $2,313,853  approximately.

The alleged letter signed by Ali-Hack stated, “in the exercise of powers conferred on her (Ali-Hack) by Article 187 (1) (c) of the constitution, the charges are being discontinued.”
