Guyanese man struck and killed while crossing Route 9 in New Jersey Freehold Township

The 34-year-old man, Robert Taylor, who was visiting from Guyana was struck down and killed by a driver whilst crossing Route 9 south at Schibanoff Lane within a crosswalk Monday morning in New Jersey, authorities said.

The driver, a 63-year-old woman from Manalapan who was in the right lane when the crash happened about 7 a.m., was not injured, police said.

Authorities said they were still trying to determine if the man was crossing against the light.
