GUYSUCO Fires Communications Officer Audreyana Thomas With Immediate Effect

The Communication Officer, Audreyana Thomas’s contract with GUYSUCO was terminated with immediate effect on October 9, 2020. 

According to Thomas, the company lost confidence in her ability to carry out her duties. After upholding her position for five years, Thomas felt that she was being penalized for a letter to the editor published in Kaieteur News. 

In it, Thomas expressed her opinion on the ongoing investigation of the March 2nd elections, for which she considered the investigation as illegal. She sighted her relationship with Roxanne Myers of over 23-years and maintained that the ongoing investigations were unlawful. 

“When I was told that the company lost confidence in my ability, I was shocked because I have gone above and beyond for this company. I was in a coma for nine hours due to stress from the job when we battled to find solutions for the sugar workers who were being laid off. I have worked here till 9 and 10 in the night to get the work done. The security had to encourage me to go home,” Thomas said.

The fired former communications officer questioned the termination action and reiterated her commitment to the development of GUYSUCO. 

GUYSUCO’s Chief Executive Officer refused to comment on the matter.
