Opposition Drops Bombshell: Minister Susan Rodrigues Accused of Siphoning Billions into Secret Florida Real Estate Empire

Minister of Housing and Water, Susan Rodrigues Corruption

A firestorm of controversy has erupted in Georgetown following the release of an explosive video exposé by the presumptive Leader of the Opposition, alleging massive corruption and money laundering by the Minister of Tourism, Industry and Commerce, Susan Rodrigues. The detailed video report accuses the Minister of using a secretive shell company to funnel hundreds of millions of Guyanese dollars into prime United States real estate, largely paid for in liquid cash.

The exposé claims that Minister Rodrigues, alongside her spouse Denisha Bobb (now legally Denisha Rodrigues), established a Florida-based shell company named Revelle Investments LLC on January 16, 2024. Just two months after incorporation, this entity allegedly executed a high-value property acquisition that has raised red flags among anti-corruption watchdogs.

The “Cash” Purchase

Documents cited in the video reveal that on March 11, 2024, Revelle Investments LLC purchased a luxury property located at 8601 NW 46th Court, Fort Lauderdale, Florida. The purchase price was listed as US$540,000—the equivalent of approximately GY$116 million.

Most alarmingly, the opposition report highlights that the transaction was completed with 100% equity, meaning the half-million-dollar property was paid for entirely in cash without a mortgage.

“Within just two months of the shell company creation, Susan has already figured out how to fund this shell company created to siphon off hundreds of millions of Guyana taxpayer dollars to purchase prime real estate US investment properties,” the opposition figure stated in the video address.

Following the Money Trail

The property in question is described as a prime investment asset featuring three bedrooms, two self-contained bathrooms, a pool, electronic garage, and hurricane-resistant windows. However, the opposition’s concerns focus less on the amenities and more on the origin of the funds used to buy them.

“This property is one of several US-based assets under your American investment shell company,” the presenter alleged, pointing to other Florida addresses linked to the Minister, including properties in Miramar. The video questions how a government official could mobilize such vast sums of liquidity so quickly.

“Is it liquid cash ‘drugs money’ that was collected in the United States to purchase this property? Did these funds originate from Guyana? Which local bank facilitated the transfers?” the speaker demanded, suggesting that the transaction bears the hallmarks of money laundering.

Calls for International Investigation

The video explicitly calls for intervention from US federal agencies, citing the cross-border nature of the financial flows. The opposition leader urged the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), and the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) to investigate the source of the funds and the legitimacy of the transfers.

“A full purchase of this magnitude demands scrutiny on the source, movement, and legitimacy of the funds used by a public official,” the statement read. “Why were such large transactions not flagged or reported to the Financial Intelligence Unit? were local banks instructed to ignore standard anti-money laundering protocols?”

President Ali Under Pressure

The allegations place significant pressure on President Irfaan Ali’s administration, which has faced repeated accusations of corruption from opposition benches. The video challenges the President to launch an immediate, independent investigation into Minister Rodrigues’ acquisition of wealth during her tenure.

“I therefore call on President Ali to launch a full investigation into Rodrigues’ acquisition of wealth… with independent investigators and to immediately relieve her of her ministerial duties until such investigation is done,” the opposition leader declared.

He further challenged the Integrity Commission to publish all submissions over the years to verify if these foreign assets were declared as required by law.

A Pattern of Unexplained Wealth?

This latest revelation follows previous exposés by the same opposition figure, who had earlier highlighted Minister Rodrigues’ ownership of a massive apartment complex and a mansion currently under construction in Guyana, alongside a fleet of high-end vehicles.

As of press time, Minister Rodrigues has not issued a statement regarding Revelle Investments LLC or the allegations of the cash purchase in Fort Lauderdale.
