Permanent Secretary, Sherie Samantha Fedee Fired By Gail Teixeira, Rehired By Irfaan Ali
According to a press release from the Department of Information, the President of Guyana, Dr. Irfaan Ali, has rehired the former Permanent Secretary within the Ministry of Amerindian Affairs, Sherie Samantha Fedee.
The Minister of Parliamentary Affairs and Governance, Gail Teixeira, fired Ms. Fedee on October 12, 2020, after working with the Public Service Commission (PSC) for over 25 years.
“Please be informed that my letter dated the 12th day of October 2020, to Ms. Sherie Samantha Fedee and its content was drawn and dispatched upon the instructions of His Excellency, Dr. Mohamed Irfaan Ali, President of the Co-operative Republic of Guyana,” according to the press release.
According to the President of the Guyana Public Service Union (GPSU) Patrick Yarde, the Public Service Commission confirmed Fedee in her position this year.
“She has risen from the position of Clerk to Personnel Officer to Senior Personnel Officer and then to Deputy Permanent Secretary, after which she succeeded to the position of Permanent Secretary in 2019. She was confirmed in the latter position in 2020 by the Public Service Commission,” said Patrick Yarde.
The press release indicated that Fedee would be offered a position under the previous terms and conditions.
According to the press release, any mention of wrongdoing by Fedee was rescinded.
“I reject every allegation of wrongdoing, unlawfulness and unconstitutionality contained in your letter,” according to the press release.
