DPI Website Reports Police Stoppage of a “Politically-Motivated” Region Five Protest, but Makes No Mention of the Murder of Three Teenage Boys
The Government’s Department of Public Information website released a statement claiming that police put an effective end to a “politically-motivated” protest in Region 5. This statement however made no mention of the objection, which provides some important context to the reason why citizens were protesting in the area.
The protest itself began over the gruesome and unthinkable murder of three Afro-Guyanese teenagers, Isaiah, Joel Henry, and Indo-Guyanese resident, Haresh Singh. Villagers from No. 3, 4, 5, and 28 ventured out in protest to express their dissatisfaction with the police investigation.
One would like to believe that a government-managed website would be meticulous in disseminating all the proper information to the public without the intention of misinforming its readers, but here we are.
