PPP/C Government Neglect Linden Residents For COVID-19 $25,000 Cash Grant
The now infamous cash grant of twenty-five thousand dollars ($25,000) that was announced by Irfaan Ali in September 2020 seems to skip residents and areas that are thought to be APNU/AFC strongholds. The grant was said to provide a COVID-19 relief measure aimed at bringing immediate relief to persons bearing the harsh economic effects of the pandemic, stimulate economic growth and put Guyanese back to work.
The now government left Lindeners with their hands out begging for their share as they watch the rest of the country receive funds in what is now seen as a partisan distribution of taxpayer dollars to supporters of the Bharrat Jagdeo/Ali led government.
Leader of the opposition Hon. Joseph Harmon upon hearing of the outcry from region 10, quickly mobilized his entire team of parliamentarians and began distributing packages to all Lindeners in need.
These actions by the PPP/C led government is a far cry from Irfaan Ali’s promise of being a government for all Guyanese.
