80,000 Doses of Oxford Astra-Zeneca Vaccine Arrived in Guyana From India
On March 7, 2021, a consignment of 80,000 doses of the Oxford Astra-Zeneca vaccine arrived in Guyana. These vaccines were given to Guyana as a gift from the Indian government and citizens as part of the “Vaccine Maitri” initiative.

Hon. Brig. (Retd) Mark Phillips, Guyana’s Prime Minister, and Dr. K J Srinivasa, an Indian diplomat. This historic event was witnessed by India’s High Commissioner to Guyana, Antigua and Barbuda, and St. Kitts and Nevis.
Twenty-five countries have already received Made in India vaccines, with forty-nine more to follow in the coming days. These countries range from Europe, Latin America, and the Caribbean to Africa, Southeast Asia, and the Pacific Islands.
