Giftland Mall Staff Arrested, Owner Roy Beepat Allegedly Refuses To Follow Curfew Laws And Pay City Taxes

Giftland mall does not want to obey curfew

Roy Beepat, owner of the Giftland Mall, is now complaining that the police force is targeting him and his institution after being forced to closed his restaurant after curfew on Saturday night, the police were forced to show up and arrest three of his employees from the mall restaurant.

” We must emphasize that none of these concessions were in breach of any Laws or regulation, this was just vindictive and spitefully done by abuse of power,” said embattled Roy Beepat.

Mr. Beepat’s allegations were refuted by Senior Superintendent K. Pareshram, who claimed that the COVID-19 curfew was implemented after 10 p.m. “I am aware that we are implementing the national COVID order, which requires all non-essential businesses to close by 9:30 a.m.,” the Commander said. He said that police arrived in Giftland after 10 p.m. on Saturday night.

This comes months after Beepat took the city to court for refusing to pay hundreds of millions of dollars in taxes, Beepat seems to have issues with adhering to the laws of Guyana.
